I really had no idea there were so many ways to combine peanut butter, chocolate, butter, and powdered sugar. I’ve tried several different recipes (such as buckeyes and peanut butter chocolate bars), but when I came upon this one, I HAD to try it. Not only does it contain a few of my favorite food groups, it also added another: salty carbs. How can you turn down peanut butter, chocolate, and pretzels? It would really be a monster diss to hormonal females everywhere NOT to make a batch and pass it along.

I used natural peanut butter because that’s what I had in the fridge. I also had to use a combo of mini pretzel twists and crushed-up pretzel nuggets, because I didn’t realize I didn’t have enough of the former. The kids were on hand to lick all of the spatulas and spoons. And maybe I had one or two too.

Though a bit messy to make, the hardest part was putting them in the fridge and not eating it all on the spot. Try them, I think you’ll agree!

It's no-bake. Therefore you don't have to feel guilty about eating the batter.

Off to the fridge you go, my sweet. See you in three hours.

The final product. I dare you to eat just six.

No-Bake Sweet & Salty Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars

Ingredients:

2 cups peanut butter, divided

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened

2 cups powdered sugar, divided

4 cups (roughly 1/2 inch pieces) broken small pretzel twists, divided

2 cups (12 oz bag) semi-sweet chocolate morsels, divided

Directions:

Line 13 x 9-inch baking pan with foil leaving an overhang on two sides. Lightly spray foil with non-stick cooking spray.

Beat 1 1/4 cups peanut butter and butter in a large mixing bowl until creamy. Gradually beat in 1 cup powdered sugar. Stir in remaining 1 cup powdered sugar, 3 cups pretzel pieces and 1/2 cup morsels. Press evenly into prepared baking pan. Smooth top with spatula.

Microwave remaining 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and 3/4 cup peanut butter in medium, uncovered, microwave-safe bowl for 45 seconds. Stir. Microwave an additional 10 to 15 seconds at a time if necessary. Spread chocolate layer evenly over powdered sugar mixture. Sprinkle with the remaining pretzel pieces, pressing down lightly. Refrigerate for at least three hours or until firm. Lift from pan, peel off foil. Cut into 60 (yeah right) pieces. Store in covered container in fridge.
